Loving the new island

This island, designed and built from IC Designs (marty@integritycabinetryllc.com), has become the hub of our home. We made what feels like 17 batches of sugar cookies over the holidays here. The girls are always gathered around it doing homework and projects and frequently Dave spreads out his homework and works long after the kids go to bed. Also, the chairs are from UBU! I made a last minute switch and instead of ordering them in a brown finish, I went with red. I'm really happy I did, they make me happy:)

Mom Tip gone awry?

I heard from the Cooking channel, or Pinterest, or somewhere that the way to reheat Pizza is not in the microwave...THE HORROR! But, in a non stick pan on med-low heat. I tried this last night and it's true...the crust gets crispy, not soggy. Mallory was less than thrilled, however.

Trying out a Mom Tip

According to the Real Simple article I read, it had some advice on how best to cook pasta. Make sure it has enough room to boil, and add 2 FULL TABLESPOONS of salt to the water after it boils, before you add the pasta. It should taste like the saltiest ocean apparently.
